ARTIST-RUN INITIATIVES AND PLATFORMS IN NORTHERN JUTLAND

f.eks. is a nomadic platform for contemporary art that seeks to create critical and speculative dialogues between artists and audience. f.eks. works with an expanded concept of the exhibition, organizing events in and around Aalborg where a diverse set of architectural, infrastructural, and environmental spaces is utilized and re-activated through performative interventions. The platform's goal is to create a space for experimental practices seeking to challenge both social and artistic conventions.

Efter et nyt Minut (closed)

Efter et nyt Minut is an exhibition and publication platform located in Sæby, exhibiting both National and International artists. Adjacent to the exhibition space, Efter et nyt Minut runs an antiquarian bookstore that sells art and theory books, as well as graphic prints. Through the dissemination of literature and art Efter et nyt Minut aim to acts as a link between the audience and the work to form a nuanced image of contemporary art.

performance protocols

performance protocols is an interdisciplinary platform for performance that creates exhibitions and events in the Nordics. performance protocols is both an online and an offline format. Online - instructions and scores, publications and protocols are created. Offline - annually exhibitions are made, where they are performed live at selected sites within and outside of established institutions. The aim of the platform is to explore the boundaries of what performativity is and can be, which are expressed in various ways in the works that are exhibited.

Skal Contemporary

Skal Contemporary is an exhibition space for contemporary art located in Skagen. Skal Contemporary shows site-specific and newly produced contemporary art created by some of the most talented visual artists in Scandinavia. Through  experimental exhibitions, local surroundings and circumstances in Skagen are examined in different ways that draw lines to current global challenges and crises.

Art Room 1000fryd (closed)

Art Room 1000fryd is an exhibition platform which works to facilitate an experimental space for contemporary art situated in the activist house 1000fryd in Aalborg. Art Room 1000fryd hosts an array of artistic expression, however predominantly in visual arts. Art Room 1000fryd provides a platform for artists to reach a wider audience and to share knowledge through exhibitions and other forms of expressions like performance, workshops, artist-talks, and happenings.

POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS FOR VISUAL ART IN DENMARK

UKK

UKK – Organization for Artists and Curators er en uafhængig, faglig forening, som har til formål at skabe bedre forhold for samtidskunsten og dens udøvere. UKK opstod i foråret 2002 som en direkte reaktion mod kulturministeriets nedskæringer, der i særlig grad ramte den unge kunstscene. Det stod dengang klart at ingen talte på denne gruppes vegne, hvorfor en ny organisering var nødvendig. I dag ligger den store udfordring i fortsat at sikre armslængdeprincippet mod centralisering og politisk kontrol, samt at bibeholde en kritisk diskussion om arbejdsvilkår for kunstarbejdere.

BKF

Billedkunstnernes Forbund (BKF) er Danmarks faglige organisation for billedkunstnere. Forbundets hovedformål er at varetage kunstnernes faglige, økonomiske, sociale og juridiske interesser og at fremme brugen af kunst overalt i samfundet. BKF værner om den kunstneriske frihed for den enkelte kunstner og om respekten for billedkunst i almindelighed.

UKS

UKS (Young Artist’s Society) is an Oslo-based institution for contemporary art and a Norwegian membership organization. Founded by artists for artists in 1921, it has since established itself as one of Norway’s core experimental venues for the arts; convening, exhibiting, and supporting critical voices of contemporary artists, with the objective of having both an artistic and political impact within and beyond its region.
